Each expatriate who is resident in the Sultanate must have a resident identity card. The resident ID card is an electronic card containing all essential details of its holder; it is used in several ways such as at electronic gates. It is issued for the residents whether they are employed or unemployed.  All children attaining 15 years of age too must have a resident card.

After joining duty, you have to apply for the Resident Card. The Public Relations Officer or PRO will do all the paper work for this. You have to undergo a medical check up again at the Ministry of Health’s office to which you will be directed to by the PRO. A day after this, the PRO will take you along with others to the Directorate General of Civil Status for obtaining the Resident Card.
